Covid-19 Caravan Service and Motorhome Habitation Policy

INTRODUCTION

To try and keep everyone safe and to ensure I provide the same level of service as normal, detailed here are the guidelines that I propose to work to.

I am introducing the use of a spray called Steri-7 Extra. I will spray the inside of your caravan or motorhome at the beginning of the work. This product is widely used in emergency vehicles, taxis and car hire companies. Steri-7 is effective against bacteria, viruses and spores and any that has settled on sprayed surfaces will be eradicated up to 99.99%. When left to dry it creates a reactive barrier, this barrier regenerates to give up to 7 days protection.

A UV lightbox will be used on your keys at the beginning and end of the job and a tape corden may also be set up around the working area.

This process is done with the view that as many precautions have been taken to protect all parties as possible.

Please beware this is not a deep clean and I can not claim that any of these processes will ensure protection from Covid-19

IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. Please let me know if the vehicle has been used for self isolation for anybody infected with Covid-19. If so please say for how long and when it was last used. Please be aware that you should allow 14 clear days between last use and the date booked in for work.
  2. To ensure social distancing can strictly be complied with, I need to be left alone to get on with the job. A caravan service can take over 4 hours so it is a good idea for you to plan something else to do off site for the duration of the work.
  3. To enable me to do a thorough job I need to be able to access all corners and areas of your caravan or motorhome. I can not do this if your camping kit is stored inside. Errors can be made if I can’t get to switches, test points, backs of cupboards and under seats etc. To be able to do a complete damp report it is vital that I can reach into all corners and cabinets, therefore you must empty the vehicle of as much of your personal belongings and kit as possible.
  4. Even though the interior will have been sprayed with Steri-7 the accepted advice is for you NOT to enter the vehicle for at least 72hrs (3 days) after I have finished.

Following are details of accepting the vehicle, working on the vehicle and handing the vehicle back. Accepting the vehicle is split into 3 options, you need only read the one that applies to you.

Arrival and acceptance of the leisure vehicle

1. If the vehicle is at your home

Social distancing will be applied at all times.
I will arrive at the pre booked time and I will either knock on your door or call you on the phone. A quick chat is all that is required so you can tell me of any special circumstances or any note worthy issues you may have with the vehicle.
Please ensure your vehicle has clear access of at least 1m all around it.
Please ensure your vehicle is unlocked and empty of all kit and belongings, this includes: awnings, chairs, BBQ, bedding, throws extra cushions etc. It’s ok to leave in cutlery, crockery and pans so long as the cabinet still has good access, but please remove items from under the seats and bed.
Please ensure all security locks have been removed.
Place only the main keys inside the vehicle. PLEASE NOTE: remove all key fobs, chains, lanyards etc and only supply the main vehicle key and the key for the locker boxes, this is because the UV sterilising box has limited space.
Please ensure the electric hook up lead is connected and power is switched on.
Please ensure your leisure battery is fully charged and connected.
Please make available your aquaroll filled with water or in the case of a motorhome please put enough water into the onboard tank so the hot water system can be tested.
Please place the external water pump / connection hose with the aquaroll.
Please ensure you have a gas bottle and there is enough gas to perform the required tests.

2. If the vehicle is in storage

Social distancing will be applied at all times.
I will arrive at the pre booked time to meet you to gain access to the compound. Alternatively please arrange for the keys to be left in a secure place or with the storage yard office. A quick chat is all that is required so you can tell me of any special circumstances or any note worthy issues you may have with the vehicle. If we don’t meet at the yard then I will call if we haven’t spoken beforehand.
Please ensure your vehicle is unlocked and empty of all kit and belongings this includes: awnings, chairs, BBQ, bedding, throws extra cushions etc.
Please ensure your leisure battery is fully charged and connected.
Please ensure you have a gas bottle and there is enough gas to perform the required tests.
Please make available your external water pump / connection hose.

3. If the vehicle is sited

Sited caravans must not have been used for 14 days prior to the booked work date, if they have been used, even for a short visit, please make the appointment to allow for 14 clear days.
I understand that a sited caravan is more of a permanent installation and therefore there is a lot more kit than normal, however to be able to perform the service to the best of my ability I still require the following:
Social distancing will be applied at all times.
Please ensure your vehicle has clear access of at least 1m all around it, if you have an awning erected I will either need it taken down, loosened or agreement from you that I won’t jack the caravan up to check the wheels and brakes.
Please ensure your vehicle is unlocked and empty of all bulky kit this includes: awnings, chairs, BBQ, bedding, throws extra cushions etc.
Please make available your aquaroll filled with water.
Please place the external water pump / connection hose with the aquaroll.
Please ensure you have a gas bottle and there is enough gas to perform the required tests.

While carrying out the work on your leisure vehicle

Your keys will be UV sterilised before use (PLEASE NOTE: UV light can damage some plastics and therefore only the main caravan keys should be supplied).
The inside of the vehicle will be sprayed with a disinfectant that will kill 99.9% of all bacteria, virus and spores. This protection drys and remains active for up to 7 days. Further information can be supplied on this product and is done to protect both parties. PLEASE NOTE: if you do not wish to have the Steri-7 spray you must ensure that the van has not been used and no-one has entered it for at least 72hrs prior to my arrival. If you decline the Steri-7 spray or you can not guarantee that there has been a clear 72hr period then your work may not go ahead at that time and may need to be rebooked. My use of Steri-7 is not a declaration of sterilisation, I am not deep cleaning and I do not claim that my processes will ensure protection from Covid-19.
My routine will be to wear disposable gloves, use hand sanitiser and to wash my hands as much as possible whilst working on your leisure vehicle.

Returning the leisure vehicle

Your keys will be UV sterilised again before handing back, they will be placed in a sealed plastic bag
The service report will be prepared and left inside the vehicle, or can be posted to you if you prefer
The service book will be stamped (if still applicable) and left inside the vehicle
The accepted advice is for you NOT to enter the vehicle for at least 72hrs after I have finished
Payment will be requested via online payment or card payment whichever has been arranged. Cash can be taken but only if no other option is available, an electronic payment is preferred
The vehicle will be left in the same state as the beginning of the work meaning you are responsible for replacing locks and your camping kit
Unless you are available at the time to discuss the report, I will telephone you at a more convenient time to answer your questions and discuss any further actions.
